Big shout out to my two friends who took all the footage and to my homegirl in the 240, she's getting good. Just ignore all the spinouts in the RX8, I'd never really tried any of this before.

I like both and loved this video. Nice!

Looks like fun. I'd be too scared of hitting a light post.

Im all for drifting/hooning in a controlled environment, doing shit on public roads is what pisses me off.. this seems fine though..

I was a little worried the first like two tries I did, but then you get a feel for it and you're way more in control than it looks like. Even when I'd spin, both feet in, and you're at a stop within a car length or two.

That's our stance too, we actually got the fuzz called on us here though, stern talking to's all around.

Nice man, I've always wanted to try this. You said it was your first time, how was it? What was the most difficult thing? I've done some oversteer around corners, but not prolonged. I've always wanted to properly drift my beast.

Yeah, I've gotten things sideways plenty of times before(on track, autocross, too much throttle in the rain) but had never really tried to slide like this, and I kind of managed to do a solid standing donut around the set of cones once. I'd say the hardest part was just figuring out how much to give it on initiation, I was doing a mix of power over and clutch kicking to get it sideways, and overdoing it was ending in my spinning. I started to figure it out at the end, but my tires were shot by that point. The other thing I'd like to get ballsy and try is second gear initiations, I seemed to be gripping up a bit when I had higher vehicle speed and more wheel speed would definitely help.

I see, did you end up using more clutch kick or more power in order to get the sweet spot? I know you have to basically give it a delicate combination of throttle and steering inputs, but I didn't see any scandie flicks to get started. The only thing I saw was the start with the long corner from outside. Yo say your tires were shot already, did you get some scrap tires for it? Or was it tire change time anyway

I ended up using a bit more clutch kick since I don't have a lot of torque down low. Sway(the 240 chick) was definitely throwing a bit of weight around to get it sliding, but she's actually good. I'll have to try that approach next time. It was tire change time anyways, they were bald on the inside shoulders and I thrashed them until I had chunks missing. hahaha

I need to do this so bad. The only fun sideways action I get is in one particular turn near my apts, but its literally a one lane turn so space is ubber limited. The only techinque I know is take off smooth, get to 3k rpm or so, make the turn bootful of gas, and I'm sideways. But given that by the time I do that I already have to let off the gas, the fun doesn't last more than 2 seconds. I HAVE TO GET NEW TIRES... I'm sure my wife will understand...haha

There's quite a few places to have a bit of fun without being a danger to people or things, just find somewhere quiet and give it a go. But don't come complaining to me when you get in trouble, it's always a possibility.

I go to Autocross every other weekend. I'm not trying to say there are no places to do it, simply that I've not done it in a closed controlled environment and I've done a simple slide in an empty corner. For that same reason I don't do it in public.

Ah, well it's a lot of fun, finding a controlled environment to do it in is definitely worth the time.

Nice!
My buddy and I go on hooning sessions semi-regularly. We live in Seattle, so rain. I'm the 350Z he's the GTO/Monaro lookalike.

That looks like fun in the rain, a lot less scary it would seem.
